9 hurt as car falls into river in Surigao

NINE persons were wounded when the vehicle they were riding accidentally fell into a river before dawn yesterday in Dapa, Surigao del Norte.
Taken to Siargao District Hospital were Jolan Antipasado, Lady Mae Gallardo, Jenny Grace Bonono, Richard Peronio, Janice Plaza, Mary ann Masangkay, Masminda Lavilla and Ivy Maris Adlao and Melvin Noel Comahig.
Reports reaching Camp Crame showed the incident occurred at around 4:30 a.m. on KM 2, Bgy. Osmenia, Dapa.
Initial investigation revealed that the victims were on board a white Isuzu D-Max ( KDA-819) driven by Melvin Noel Comahig when the incident happened.
Investigators said the driver of the vehicle suddenly felt drowsy while driving, causing the vehicle to swerve to the canal before it fell into the river.
Four of the victims were thrown off the vehicle and sustained severe injuries.
Authorities are conducting follow-up investigation into the incident.
