The Jesuit Missionaries of late 1800s described our town Mainit and mentioned about the beautiful waterfalls along the Opong and Magpayang rivers.
HAIN NA INI NA MGA WATERFALLS?
Fr. Sanchez in his 1887 letter to his Jesuit Superiors in Manila reported: “ Finally, the rivers which come from elevated mountains around Mainit Lake and called in the west, “Opong,” in the east, “Magpayang,” lead to the formation of a great variaety of the most beautiful and playful cascades ever seen.”
