Starting May 21, 2025, travelers can enjoy a seamless connection between Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao by taking this ferry route.

How to Travel from Manila to Mindanao via Palompon, Leyte & Matnog Port

Step-by-Step Journey:

  1. Manila to Matnog, Sorsogon

    • Travel by bus (e.g., Philtranco, Raymond, or DLTB) or private vehicle from Manila to Matnog Port (approx. 12-14 hours).

  2. Matnog to Palompon, Leyte (Ferry Ride)

    • Board Santa Clara Shipping Corporation’s ferry at Matnog Port bound for Palompon, Leyte (travel time approx. 3-4 hours).

  3. Palompon to Mindanao (via Land & Sea Options)

    • From Palompon, travelers can proceed to Ormoc or Tacloban for further connections to Surigao (Mindanao) via fast crafts or roll-on/roll-off (RORO) ferries.

    • Alternatively, take a bus or van to Hilongos or Baybay for RORO options to Camiguin or Cagayan de Oro.

 Alternative Route options . mindanao to manila vice versa 
Santa Clara Shipping Corporation announced the schedule last May 21, 2025 that they will have trips from Matnog, Sorsogon to Palompon, Leyte and vice versa. This is due to the 3-ton weight restrictions currently imposed on the iconic San Juanico Bridge.
