Following its first visit on July 2, 2023, the Heritage Adventurer cruise vessel once again anchored in the waters of Socorro, Surigao del Norte on June 27, 2024. This marks the vessel's final stop during its voyage in the Philippines before setting sail to Indonesia. The cruise ship carried seventy-seven (77) tourists from New Zealand, Australia, Europe, and America, along with 11 escorts from Heritage Expeditions.
The group toured and explored the magnificent beauty of Sohoton Cove, basking in its crystal-clear waters while diving, snorkeling, and swimming with the famous stingless jellyfish. Personnel from the Department of Tourism Caraga and the Local Government Unit of Socorro warmly received the guests, ensuring their visit was memorable and safe.
This visit by the Heritage Adventurer underscores the growing appeal of Surigao del Norte as a prime destination for cruise tourism. The influx of international visitors highlights the region's potential for significant economic benefits, promoting local businesses, and fostering a deeper cultural exchange.
Moreover, the arrival of the Heritage Adventurer coincides with the nearing completion of the Siargao International Port in Dapa. This port is poised to enhance the infrastructure and capabilities of the region, positioning Siargao Island as a major hub for cruise tourism. The local community is optimistic about the anticipated increase in market awareness and the economic revenue that cruise tourism will contribute to the area.
As Siargao Island and its surrounding locales continue to develop their tourism infrastructure, visits from esteemed cruise vessels like the Heritage Adventurer will play a pivotal role in establishing the region as a premier destination on the global travel map.
