Governor Lyndon Barbers welcomed 2GO Travel representatives in a courtesy call yesterday to discuss their plans, marking a significant step toward enhancing connectivity, boosting local tourism, and supporting economic growth in Surigao del Norte.

A Game-Changer for Siargao

This new route is more than just a travel convenience—it’s a bridge for opportunities. For Surigaonons and tourists alike, this means:
✔ Faster & more affordable travel between Manila and Siargao
✔ Stronger economic activity through increased tourism and trade
✔ Sustainable tourism development that benefits local communities

Governor Barbers expressed his enthusiasm, stating:
 "This is a dream come true for every Surigaonon. A direct Manila-Siargao route will make travel easier, more accessible, and more meaningful for both locals and visitors. We fully support 2GO’s vision of connecting communities while promoting sustainable growth." 

Next Steps: Port Evaluation in Dapa

As part of their expansion plan, 2GO Travel will conduct a survey and evaluation of the international port in Brgy. Jubang, Dapa, currently under construction by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA).

Once completed, this port will strengthen Siargao’s maritime capabilities, making it a key hub for travel and commerce in the region.

A Shared Vision for Progress

Governor Barbers assured 2GO Travel of the provincial government’s full support, emphasizing the importance of public-private partnerships in driving progress.
